The continuity of Aleksandri PUB was started a long time ago when Jakobson described the owner of the house Mathiesen in his book "Vaeste patuste Alevis" ("In the Small Town of the Poor Sinful").
Andrei, the great-grandfather of the present owner Andres Mathiesen, built and decorated the house and Aleksander, the grandfather, after whom the PUB has been named, started running "Õlletuba" (A Beer Room) in the same building in 1920. This was turned into a restaurant after a while, with white tablecloths.
The continuity would have lasted if there hadn't been an enforced break for 50 years.
Aleksandri PUB was reopened September 10th, 1995.

Now the PUB is complemented with a guesthouse.
We are situated in the right hand shore of River Pärnu, within10 minutes walking distance from the centre of the town.
IF YOU LIVED HERE,
THEN YOU WOULD BE AT HOME NOW.
